"An Unidentified Error has occured" in defining MySQL database

Hello, I have a client that I am creating a site hosted with register.com. I have my IP address on their whitelist, and received the MySQL IP from the hosting company for the server info. I keep getting "an unidentified error has occured".

I was on support with them for awhile and they cant figure out why it isn't connecting. I also tried the following solution:
Host name = localhost (literally put localhost)
Database name = (cpanelUsername_databaseName)
Database username = (cpanelUsername_databaseUsername)
Database password = (whatever you picked)

that I got from the thread with the issues from hostgator.

Any thoughts? Any one else have issues connecting to register.com? It does have cPanel.

Thanks!

OK, Double check your site definition setting for the testing server.

Where you are trying to connect to the re to database, make sure the testing is set to use an FTP connection to the remote server.

Double check that the web URL Entered for the testing is the correct web address, and if needed, make sure to enter the correct root directory so that the connection is at the site root.

thanks for the message. I did double check the site definition/etc. and I am still getting the error. I talked with Register.com, they are able to access it fine so they are saying the problem isn't on their end. I can also connect fine to the FTP using FileZilla.

I appreciate your help on this!

Just to to clarify, in the site definition, dreamweaver was able to connect to the site successfully, I just get the undefined error when I try to define a MYSQL connection via the webassist CMS panel.

I was able to create the connection using the info provided, however i needed to change the mysql host name to localhost.

try creating the database connection from the database tab and use a Dynamic MySQL connection instead of the MySQLi connection.
