Shipping amount not passing to PayPal

Shipping amount not passing to PayPal

I have an ASP eCart that has been deployed for several years. Last night the shipping amount stopped being passed to PayPal.
Relevant code:

<input type="hidden" name="handling_cart" id="handling_cart" value="<%= (WA_eCart_GetShipping(eCart1) + WA_eCart_GetCharges(eCart1))%>" />

As seen in View Source - value of 8 is correct.

<input type="hidden" name="handling_cart" id="handling_cart" value="8" />

Please advise. I assume likely the variable name has changed.

please post a link where i can see this in action to investigate.

actually, I found this on the paypal support forum at stack overflow:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26282587/handling-cart-being-ignored-by-paypal

Looks like a bug on paypal's end that they are aware of and investigating.

Agreed it is on PayPal's end as it is the same issue on another ASP cart of mine and a PHP cart. I have also found references to it from others going back several years, although no fixes.

A subsequent post to the above link says that you can replace handling_cart with shipping_1.
This worked for me.
