Leading backslash(\) before quotes(") on html editor

Hi

I'm not sure what is happening but when I retrieve data from the database all data that has quotes(") around it has started having a leading backslash.

for example

<p>If you decide to donate greater than &pound;50.00, you will become an "Associate of the Games"</p>

now appears in the database as

<p>If you decide to donate greater than £50.00, you will become an \"Associate of the Games\"</p>

After being saved using the web-assist html editor, this has only just started to occur after starting a new back end website

I followed this thread and enabled BOM but this has had no effect

Thanks

this is a problem with the magic_quotes_gpc directive being enabled in the php.ini file.

you should contact the hsot to have this setting disabled, in the mean time, i added code at line 1 to disable it at run time. see the php.net manual page for more details:
http://php.net/manual/en/security.magicquotes.disabling.php
