After Double opt in tutorial page is logging automatically

Hi Jason,

I've gone through the tutorial a couple times now and ran into a few issues.

First off when registering a user it registers OK to the database. I have the log emails working and it says "Success" however the email is not send to the registration email address or the person who is CCd.

2nd, when it goes to the confirmation page for some reason it goes ahead and automatically logs the person in so it's not recognizing the "emailVerified" security restrictions.

Like I said I have gone over the tutorial several time to see where i am missing something or if I entered something wrong. There was a step where the session emailVerified is created but it wasn't showing up on my Bindings tab so I created that session.

This all seems to be connected to the issues I was having before with the validation as WebAssist is adding extra <?php and ?> tags so if I am not watching as i double check each page I get a syntax error. Could this be a Dreamweaver setup issue. I am using my live server as a testing server so I am wondering if this could cause some troubles.

My apologies for bothering you again so soon but I'm banging my head against the wall.

Any help you can give is again appreciated.

Who is your host?

Depending on your host, you may need to set certain options in Universal Email.

Some hosts will work if you leave the SMTP Server setting on the Email Server Tab blank, others will require that you enter the SMTP server address.

Some will work using the standard Mail protocol, other will require that you use the Pear Mail for SMTP, some using Pear mail will require authentication.

Some hosts may require that the from address being used be a valid email address for your domain. Some may require that the option to include the from Email address be passed as an extra parameter.

To be successful with Universal Email, you will need to know the requirements of your host for sending an email using a PHP script.

Also, double check your Spam folder, it is possible that the email is being trapped as spam.

On the registration page, edit the insert record behaviors and change the name of the session that it creates to save the registered user ID, you will also need to edit the link in the email and change the name of the session used for the ID to match.

Thanks Jason,

Changing the session value worked.

Regarding the email I am checking with our IT department to see if anything could have changed with our the settings, we are still with the same provider and I have used the same setting that i previously used with Universal email but this site is now on a different server. Hopefully that clears things up.

Just an update here on the Universal email issue ...

This had nothing to do with Universal Email. Unknown to me our IT department didn't renew the subscription to the SMTP service. Things are happily emailing away.
