Jamie

wrong syntax

Hey Jason

Am trying to use the data stored in the db to add the year from the relevant column but clearly am using the wrong syntax but not sure how it should be structured

This is what I am using

$copyYear = <?php echo($GlobalSettings->getColumnVal("copyright_startyear")); ?>;

How should I structure it please?

Many thanks

Jamie

use to write the copyright_startyear column to the page.:
<?php echo($GlobalSettings->getColumnVal("copyright_startyear")); ?>

Sorry, I should have added the full code snippet for context

<div id="copyright">&copy; <?php
$copyYear = 2014;
$curYear = date('Y');
echo $copyYear . (($copyYear != $curYear) ? ' - ' . $curYear : '');
?> <?php echo($GlobalSettings->getColumnVal("CompanyName")); ?><br>All Rights Reserved.</div>

Where 2014 is I want to be able to change it through the DB but if I use $copyYear = <?php echo($GlobalSettings->getColumnVal("copyright_startyear")); ?>; I get a syntax error

Thanks

Jamie

you cant use php tags nor the echo statement when setting a variable value

$copyYear = $GlobalSettings->getColumnVal("copyright_startyear");
