Email Password with PEAR using SMTP?

Email Password with PEAR using SMTP?

One of my clients recently had his web server updated such that emails could not be sent from the server from "nobody" i.e. using the basic PHP mail command. This meant I had to switch my WA Universal Email forms to use PEAR mail using SMTP with a username and password.

But, the Email Password SB in Security Assist does not provide this option. Help! My client needs it fixed and I would rather not have to rebuild the Forgot Password page using Interakt Kollection/ADDT as I am desperatly trying to stop using those products.

You will not be able to do this using the SecurityAssist email password behavior.

you would need to recr5eate the functionality using a recordset and Universal Email.

You already have the form to type in the email address.

add a recordset to the page to query the users table. Set it to filter the emailAddress column on the emailAddress from element.

When you add universal Email to the page, set the trigger to the email Lookup recordset not empty.

When creating the message body, use the recordset to retrieve the password and user name.

SMTP mail from Security Assist email password

I'd like to see this feature added to Security Assist. All the hosts I know require SMTP authentication.

Please elaborate ...

Hi Jason,
Can you elaborate on the procedure above. I did everything you say but can't get it working. Thanks ...

What part is not working? is the email not being sent? Or is the information not in the body?

Can you post a copy of your page so I can take a look at what you have.

Working, but wasn't easy

It's OK thanks Jason, I got the page working using the standard "Security Assist email password bahaviour" ... after 6 hours of non stop fiddling about.

In testing your Universal Email solution your typo from/form in your reply "Set it to filter the emailAddress column on the emailAddress from element" threw me for a good while.

Back to the SA solution, I followed the solution recipie many times, encountered many errors, uninstalled eCart to correct a Javascript error trying to use the Cookies Toolkit, found and downloaded WA_RandomPassword.php and WA_SHA1Encryption.php by Googling the files and finding them as zip file attached to replies in other forum threads. In short, not an "easy solution" to use the first time, but now I've cracked it I will be confident to use it again.

I do think that the documentation could be improved. Most of what is needed is there, but lightweight and dispersed. The videos are especially irritating as the key info is gone in a blink, while the printable files lack depth in general. I'd like to see one single PDF for each product that I can print and study and make notes on, and that explains slowly, carefully, what needs to be done.

Again: great products, but the learning cure, even for a seasoned programmer like me, is very steep. The productivity improvements I am expecting by using the WA tools is yet to come, but I am sure it will.

Thanks for your help.
