uploading larger files

Hey Jason

Am just trying to upload larger images and am getting the following error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 41856 bytes) in /home/allinkk3/public_html/webassist/file_manipulation/helperphp.php on line 891

Now, I know that the hosting provider allows max_file_size to be 32mb

And am *thinking* that this is more to do with memory_limit but not sure what determines how much memory a specific image needs to be able to upload?

Thanks

Jamie

  not sure what determines how much memory a specific image needs to be able to upload?

it depends on the upload settings. If you set the upload to create multiple copies of the file, or if you set it to resize images it will take more memory than if it is just saving one copy of the file and not resizing.

you can increase the emory limit by using the following code at line 1 of the page with the form on it:
<?php
ini_set("memory_limit", "256M")
?>

But It may not even be the memory limit, it may be another php setting like post_max_size

see this page for details on php settings that effect upload file size:

Thanks for the link Jason.. was looking at that from other posts I found in the forum.

The memory limit code has done the trick.. many thanks
