Spry Validation - (maxChars)

Prior to now using jQuery validation when building DataAssist Pages, I was able to enter the maximum characters for an input field.

Once the pages were generated, I could edit the maximum amount characters near the bottom of the page (Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField).

How can I edit these maxChars values using DataBridge 1.1.9?

to edit the Jquery validation settings on your page, go to WebAssist -> Forms -> Jquery validation.

The max chars settings is probably a server validation though.

to edit the server validation settings, go to the server behaviors panel, and double click the server validation server behavior to edit.

Thanks Jason,

I don't see any of the settings you mention. See attached screenshots.

Please advise.

Thank you

I dont see any server validation applied top this page, nor do i see a jquery pattern on the header for element to restrict the number of changacters:

<input id="contentHeader" name="contentHeader" type="text" value="<?php echo((isset($_GET["invalid"])?ValidatedField("riContentPagesinsert","contentHeader"):"")); ?>" class="formTextfield_XLarge" tabindex="2" title="Please enter a value.">

It looks like the length validation has been removed from this page.

If you select the content header form element, in the property inspector will be a max length setting. you c an use that to set the maximum number of characters to be entered.

Extra clarity needed

I'm not sure why the length validation has been removed from this page.

When I create the pages using the DataAssist: create pages under the manage pages tab, form validation and field settings, I have entered a value for Max Characters: 125. On completion of the page generation, I do not see any code reflecting the set Max Characters. Am I doing something wrong or is this perhaps a bug? See attached screenshot of my form validation and field settings.

From your previous advice, I do now see how I can set the max length setting for the input fields. The problem is for a textarea field in the properties Inspector does not allow me to enter a max length.

From what I see now, is that I would need to manually set the max length for each input field of the generated pages.

How would I apply any server validation to the page?

How would I apply the jQuery pattern for an element to restrict the number of characters?

Appreciate your clarity on this matter Jason.

Jquery cannot restrict character length.

use server validations for this.

In server validations use the Entry Length validation type,
