What does rel2abs do?

I have used the PowerCMS extension to create an admin, but it an old admin from some years back. I have also created my own admin pages using Data Assist, so I have a combination of both PowerCMS and Data Assist CMS. Now I am getting 404 errors from redirects from Data Assist insert and update pages.

I understand that this is something to do with old WA_DataAssist library.php, but I was wondering what does this rel2abs actually do? I am asking because if I comment it out, the pages work as expected.

Can I carry on with it commented out, or is it detrimental?

Thanks

rel2abs converts a relative path to an absolute path.

you can leave it commented if it causes the pages to work
