Not getting any emails after using the tutorial

Hi guys,
I recently stepped through your tutorial for "Customize form elements in your form-generated emails" and uploaded it to my domain web space which is hosted by another company on my purchased domain. It runs fine and takes me to the "success" page, however no email gets delivered to the nominated email address. I've done some research on PHP and ini settings, does my hosting provider need to have their SMTP mail function settings correct or does this not have anything to do with PHP ini settings? should this just work?
Help would be appreciated :-)

Who is your host?

Depending on your host, you may need to set certain options in Universal Email.

Some hosts will work if you leave the SMTP Server setting on the Email Server Tab blank, others will require that you enter the SMTP server address.

Some will work using the standard Mail protocol, other will require that you use the Pear Mail for SMTP, some using Pear mail will require authentication.

Some hosts may require that the from address being used be a valid email address for your domain. Some may require that the option to include the from Email address be passed as an extra parameter.

To be successful with Universal Email, you will need to know the requirements of your host for sending an email using a PHP script.

Also, double check your Spam folder, it is possible that the email is being trapped as spam.

my host is Westnet. Australian based company as I am in Australia. My domain is with CrazyDomains however, so when I set up the from address should this be a westnet account or a domain account?
I did find where i could set the Mail Object Settings in the server behaviours for universal email, so I attempted to put in for the SMTP server my ISP's mail server and port details. did notice the Pear Mail for SMTP option but wasn't sure if I need to select that?..how do i know if my hosting service needs to use Pear Mail?
I have put in a from_address as a valid email address for my domain and no luck. Its not going into my junk folder either. Will keep trying all combinations to see if anything works. Thanks for the feedback and direction mate.

You should look up your hosting service documentation for details on sending mails using PHP and see if they have any example scripts. that will help in determining the correct settings to use.

The from address should one for the hosting domain

how do i know if my hosting service needs to use Pear Mail?

you would need to ask the host about this. If the SMPT server requires authentication, then you will need to use Pear Mail, but double check they have support for pear installed.
