Live edit upload not finding directory

Uploading files / images works fine from within the admin panel and if I live edit a page in the direct site root but if I live edit two different subfolders (directories) than the upload (Browse Server box) does not load properly and I just get a blank box in the middle of the screen. (mysite.com/subfolder/) I assume that I need to set this to pull from the root instead of from the current directory. Can you tell me how to do this and which file to edit? Thank you.

If I attempt to add an image in the "main" page (i.e. root) then it is fine. If I navigate to this additional layer then in Chrome I get a blank box when I choose Browse Server and I get a webpage cannot be found in IE 11.

ok, but the link you provided is for a page that is in the site root.

please provide a vlid link for a page that demonstrates the problem so that i can troubleshoot.
