Master / detail framework, to create HTML weekly email

Master / detail framework, to create HTML weekly email

To refresh memory: My app inputs information, day-to-day, about an industry (via human keyboarding) - to create a db of industry 'updates.' From that db, we pull a weekly summary. That presents the week's industry updates. This weekly summary includes links, for each individual summary 'update,' which goes to a page of detail.

Of course this parallels master / detail sets.

(After a hiatus negotiating about a direct feed of this information into a subscriber,) it is time to build that master / detail output side of the app.

May I ask, please? Where may I best find the master / detail framework, a framework that will adapt straightforwardly, to create the HTML for a mass email to clients? In DataAssist, perhaps for instance the Application Type, Product Catalog? Or elsewhere, for something more adaptable to the purpose? In eCart?

As always, much thanks, David

For an email you would want to create the master list manually in the email body.

the concept of a master / detail page set is this:

the master page:
- create a recordset that returns the ID and title from the table in your database.

- in the page body, use the recordset bindings to display the title column from the recordset with a link that passes the ID as a URL variable:

<a href="details.php?ID=<?php echo $row_RecordsetName['idColumn']; ?>"><?php echo $row_RecordsetName['titleColumn']; ?></a>

- use the repeat region server behavior to repeat through the recordset to show all titles

the Details page:
- create a recordset the filters the ID column on the ID url variable passed by the link.

you can use Data Bridge to create a results and details page set, use that as a learning tool for getting the idea of how to create the master details page set to use the concepts when creating the email body. bear in mind, that in the email, the links to the details page will need to use fully qualified URLS.

Thanks so much, Jason. As always, generous, providing guidance necessary to get there.

I also have found your tutorial that effectively covers the master detail set.

I have been generally familiar with the steps. But I will also review the tutorial to put them front of mind, along with your directions.

Thanks, David
