flat discount for each item if before a certain date

I applied a flat discount "if before a certain date" which works well on the entire order. How do I get the "if before a certain date" discount to apply to each item in the cart?

On the Calculations Tab, create a calculation to find the items discountTotal.


say the discount should be 20%:

discountTotal:
([Price] * 0.2) * [Quantity]


Then in the discount, use the "Based on Column Subtotal" calculation
Subtotal For Column "discountTotal" "plus" "0"

is there a way to get a flat $10 off each item.

Use the multiple of column subtotal calculation


Subtotal of column "Quantity" "times" "10" "plus" "0"

so now the client wants certain items excluded from the flat rate, time based discount which works great. from my research, it seems in order to exclude certain items, I will have to create a column in the ecart object with the 0 or 1 options on products?

ok. because I'm not doing this daily, things are slipping from the memory banks.

1. I created a column for a discount. i assume it should be currency.
2. all items are static entries.
3. discount "If before a certain date"
4. items with discount have a " 1 ' value and items without discount have the " 0 ' value

however, it is not working. what am I missing?

think i found the problem... almost. discount is working except when more than 1 of the same item is added to cart
