eCart 6 and PayPal Payments Advanced Testing

I have found it impossible to set up a testing environment with PayPal Payments Advanced and eCart 6. PayPal states that PayPal Payments Advanced does not work properly with their Sandbox system. All I really want to do is test the emails that go out from eCart to make sure they have the correct receipt information and that they look professional. I don't want to submit live transactions to test the emails. My question is: can I set up eCart to not submit a transaction to PayPal and have it just execute the checkout_success page, so it sends me an email?
Thanks for any help.

No, you would need to edit the code that sends the transaction to paypal to not trigger, but that would mean the email wouldn't trigger either sine it triggers on the return from paypal.

The recommendation from paypal is to do live live $0.01 transactions and then refund the penny
