Why When Updating a Subscriber Does the Country Revert to Afghanistan?

Why When Updating a Subscriber Does the Country Revert to Afghanistan?

Normally I update the database in MySQL. Since PowerMessenger was open I did some updating there. One subscriber showed up as Afghanistan instead of the United States. When switching to United States the state became Alabama instead of North Carolina.

I thought it was just an odd occurrence. The same happened with the next one and again New York changed to Alabama,

The workaround is to just go back to MySQL but something is seriously wrong.

Any clues?

In the database, are you using the Country Abbreviation?
US

if you have been entering the users manually and not using the abbreviation for the country, this would cause the problem.

in the users table, the user country column should not use the full country name, it should use the abbreviation.

BINGO!

You solved it.

Is there a magical way to change all "United States" entries to "US" in one command?
