What is your OS?
What version of Dreamweaver are you using?
What extensions including the version numbers are installed?
try disabling the preview. Go to WebAssist -> Preferences (in older versions it may be under the Insert -> WebAssist menu)
in the preview section, select the option to disable the preview.
