centering text on background image

Hey Jason

Have used menu writer to create a menu but am struggling to get the text centred both horizontally and vertically. The navigation can be seen here and would really appreciate any help/advice you could give to get this done as I have tried numerous ways to no avail!

Cheers

Jamie

try adding the following styles to the ul#cssmw > li > a selector:

display: table-cell:
vertical-align: middle;
text-align: center;

using firebug to inspect your site css, the change has not been applied. see screen shot.

display is still set to block, I see the verticle align setting, but not the text align setting

got it... found an errant display: block which have removed and now its sort of doing what it should.

As you can now see, because of the blue glow on the graphic edge, its offsetting the actual centre of the black disk... how would I compensate for that?

Ahh dont worry. I got it. Now that its acting like a table cell, a padding element is working to make the adjustment now.

thanks again for your help Jason

sorry to be a pain, but as you can see from this page, the layout and styling is rendering fine http://clients.motley.co.uk/ITEAC/template.htm

now, when I have added the jquery for the news scroller to the page, which can be seen here http://clients.motley.co.uk/ITEAC/template2.htm, at the top of the page, everything below is thrown off in layout terms as well as styling - I have been tinkering for about 3 hours trying to figure out which element is causing it to 'break' without much luck...

any tips and advice as always appreciated.

cheers

Jamie

its the <div class="tickercontainer"> element.

if you remove that the layout goes back to normal.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to adjust the css for that container so that it will be normal with it in, but that is the element causing the problem.
