Can't connect to database on server - error message when trying to test connection.

I have checked the connection string, and all is good. I am attaching the error message when I test the connection, and the URL that is entered into my server setup in Dreamweaver.

the web url should be:
http://38.111.52.37/

Jason, that didn't change anything. I'm still getting the same error when testing the connection string.

is there anything uploaded to the site?

using the address:
http://38.111.52.37/

in a browser redirects to a pearl script. does the site have a vlid domain use? use that instead.

the web URL in the testing server settings needs to be a valid URL To the root of your site.

It's a temporary URL until the domain transfers, which it has not yet. Will it not with without the domain?

It may not work with the temporary domain.

send a screen shot showing the current error, it should have changed al be it slightly and the current testing server settings.

No need for a screen shot. All it says now is "An unidentified error has occurred." That's it - nothing more.

In your replay you said it didn't change anything and that it was still the same error message, that's not the same error from you initial report. seams something did change, no?

when it tries to test the connection it will try to upload a file to the site:
_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php

then access that file using:
<URL Prefix>/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php

the unidentified error message means that it cannot access that file using the address specified in the URL prefix.

it amy not work till there is a domain name.

Right - the first time I tried the connection after the change, I got the same message as before. When I tried it again, I got the one I just posted. Okay - I will work on getting the domain transferred, and maybe that will help. Thanks!
