Help with nested repeat regions (I think)

I'm looking for a bit of advice/direction with nested repeat regions.

(see attachment)

Basically. I have like 8 categories, and a bunch on information within each category. I would like to be able to display this information, under its proper category... in a master/detail page setup.

My db table consists of ID, category, row1, row2, row3, etc. But I fear that this might be my first problem. I think I need the categories in a separate table, no?

and somehow associate each bit of information with a category (id of category table?)

Outside of the above, will I need to create a separate sql statement within the body of the page, and nest yet another sql statement in it to pull in the associated data?

Thanks.
