Jamie

file not uploading

Hey Jason

Not sure what I have done wrong with this page, but the file selected is not uploading nor is the database being updated with the filename.

Many thanks

Jamie

edit. also have noticed, and not sure if that would be linked with the upload in anyway, that my validation is not working to check for duplicate ProductName

for the file upload to work, the forms encoding type must be set to multipart/form-data.

select the form tag, and in the property inspector, set the encoding type.

doh.. I did know that but had forgotten to do it! many thanks

also, not sure if you saw my edit, but have noticed that my validation is not working to check for duplicate ProductName on the same page

the trigger for the validation is set to Button: Insert pressed.

there is no insert button on this page.

the button on this page is named Update.

Did you copy the validation code from the insert page? always best to apply the behavior manually rather than copy the code.

thanks Jason... I had copied it across but will not in future!

this is the last question, i hope, for the week as now it does check and show the error message. If you then change the ProductName to be something unique, it doesnt update the database. Have atatched the up to date version of the page

i updated the product_contents_update.php?ProductContentsID=39 file to correct the problem.

thanks Jason but not sure what has happened with that update as a couple of issues have reared as a result:

1. after the update has 'failed' and the validation message is showed, i fyou then add a unique title and click update it doesnt update the db with the new unique title

and

2. when in chrome or ie, when clicking on any of the product links takes you through to the home page rather than the product itself.
