A New Crop of Dreamweaver Users

This is more of a thought than a question.

We come across some new Dreamweaver users. They have some very powerful needs. Web Assist can help them. Their working knowledge of Adobe apps is quite good. Their Dw skills are not. I'm re-watching your YouTube eCart5 movie. I'm thinking, "Would some of the people I know be able to understand this or does it assume that they know more about Dw than they do?" I'm pretty sure they would not.

Expanding upon it, though, would make you generalized Dw trainers.

eCart is a developer tool that leverages Dreamweaver to add additional functionality.

It is certainly possible to learn both Dreamweaver and eCart at the same time, but that really is just adding an extra layer of complication.

that's not to say that one must be a master of Dreamweaver, but a working knowledge of how to create a basic site would be very helpful before trying to move on to adding eCommerce to the site.

a basic understanding of defining a dreamweaver site for dynamic development, creating a page design, and adding dynamic content is a good idea before trying to work with eCart.

Yep.

I've heard from some former WA users who are under the impression that there is something wrong with WA. That's never the case. It's a limitation in their Dw skills.

That's a very tough egg for WA to crack. On one hand you don't want people saying, "Web Assist doesn't work." On the other hand, you don't want to alienate your existing user base.

It is a tough line. A tool can only be used as effectively as your knowledge of what the tool does.

A hammer can be used to build a bird house or a mansion. That's not say that anyone who owns a hammer will be able to build a mansion though.
