file manager, update status but not image/file

I've got a product update page with a tick box to make the product visible on the website also I have a image uploaded on the same page. Changing the image and updating the status works fine, but just updating the status alone, results in losing the image. I think the database name of the file is being overwritten, it there a way getting around this?

add a hidden form field.

for the initial value of the hidden field, use the image column from the recordset on the update page.

in the file upload server behavior, bind the Default File setting to the hidden element.

Thanks that did the job.

Yes but on the update page I may want to change the file! Shouldn't the file manager offer to use the initial file name in the recordset?

a file field cannot have a default value.

that is why you use the hidden field, bind it to the column from the recordset and in the Upload file behavior, bind the default file setting to the hidden field.

On the update page, I have a file field with file manager where I just discovered I could edit properties and add an initial value thus giving me the opportunity to change the uploaded file associated with this record.

The OP in this thread was not using a file Manager, they where using a standard File form Field and the upload file behavior.

In the File manager, you can set the initial value, but not when using a file field with file upload.
