multiple paypal charges on same order

multiple paypal charges on same order

sometimes and not always when a customer checks out the order is processed multiple times and multiple charges show up on customers credit card forcing us to return/cancel orders. The order is only entered once into the database but charged multiple times at paypal. I also get multiple email notifications. Can you think of any reason why this might be happening on some orders and not others?

most likely they are clicking the submit button on the confirm page multiple times

you can prevent this by adding a onclick event to disable the button when clicked:

onclick="this.disabled=true;this.form.submit();"

problem still occurring after disabling button

I added the disable code and that worked as far as disabling the button so that it could not be clicked twice. Unfortunately when I flipped into test mode and ran two orders through the same thing happened, each time the order was run through paypal twice. I am stumped and need to find an answer to this. Any other suggestions? It appears not to be a double clicking problem, I had thought that that was the case also.

I dont see anything obvious that would cause this except double clicking the checkout button, maybe the form.submit in the onclick event is causing the double click, change the on click to:

onclick="this.disabled=true;"

form won't submit

when I tried that the form does not submit. I'm at a loss and my client is getting ready to pull project. Job on the line. I give up. Guess It will become someone else's problem.
