What date formats are created by the Calendar pop up?

What date formats are accepted / created by the Calendar pop up? Are European and non US date formats accepted / created?

You can set the date format as part of the design in form builder from the edit design iterface by selecting "Form Elements->Datepicker". This includes dozens of the most commonly configured options including the date format.

The calendar pop up uses the jquery library, so it is highly customizable by hand as well:
