Fitness Center Management

I want to design a site to manage a fitness center database. It will need to be connected to a barcode reader. Is this possible? If so, where do I start?

I am assuming you want the bar code to be stored in a column of your database?

A barcode scanned is just an input device on your computer much like a keyboard.

You could use DataAssist to create the pages for managing you fitness center database tables, when the record is being created, make sure the cursor is in the barcode form field before scanning the barcode, when you scan it, the barcode text will be inserted in the form as if you typed it.

A barcode scanner is only something which is installed between your keyboard and workstation. That way it doesn't matter if you enter the code by hand or using the scanner: you click in the field which needs the code to be entered to get the focus on it, next you scan your code. The only problem might be that after scan there's no automatic submit, so you need to click a button then

the more is ;barcode scanner itself can't tell that a particular barcode number is product A or B. it has to be linked to a database containing the products and their barcodes. like when you scan a product in hypermarket, the POS machine itself contains/is linked to a database, to display what product and its price.
