The Dreamweaver is not connecting to the database on a private server I have with GoDaddy. In the videos and messages I have seen, it seems that if I don’t have a test server validated that it won’t connect to the primary database. I tried to point the test server to the primary database, but that did not work. So I tried to add MySQL locally and to use that as the test database. Yes, I installed workbench with MySQL. The error I get when I test the connection for both the test and the primary database is “An unidentifed error has occurred, a very generic message. Yes, the ftp connection is working fine and the credentials for the database are correct. When I put the database php page to the server, it works fine. But I should be able to connecting through dreamweaver when I create and work on webpages.

the error:
“An unidentifed error has occurred"

means that there is a problem with the Site Definition settings for connecting to the Testing server.

If you are trying to connect to the remote database, set up the testing server settings in your site definition to use FTP and use the credential for connecting to the remote server.

if the FTP server connects bellow the site root, make sure to add the Host Directory so that it connects to the root.

also make sure that the URL prefix is the correct address to point to the same location as the FTP Settings.
