Disable CMS

Disable CMS

I started a site using CMS and have since decided that I do not want to use it since I will be the only one editing. I am early in this build and can build new with the presets and templates that I have now, but if CMS can be removed that would be my first choice. Please advise.

On your page, select the CMS Areas, then in code view, remove the code to return the CMS Content from the CMS Database, then replace it with static content.

Follow on question to using CMS

When CMS is used, what does it do to search engine ability to recognize matches on page? Can the dynamic content be read?

Connection problem that I think I created

Another reason that CMS and I are not getting along so good is that when I tested, I did so in the Localhost environment and it went through the setup just fine initially and has worked as expected since. When I put site to remote server, when index would load, it came back with a fatal SQL error linking back to Connections folder, PowerCMS file. When I looked into this file, it had my database settings for the localhost environment. I tried to edit the connection, but no luck. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Yes, the dynamic content can be read by the search engine.

you can also use CMS to manage the page title, keywords and description meta tags to help with SEO.

With PCMS, it is best to start development directly on the live server rather than test locally and upload.

if you do test locally, then upload, when you move to the live server, you will need to export the local PCMS Database, and import to the remote server. then you will need to edit the connection file to connect to the remote database.
