Email not sending after update

Email not sending after update

I have a plugin that updates the authorised status of a database record. I'm trying to get universal email to send an email after the update is performed. I have removed the redirect from the multiple update server behaviour and when I check the database I can see that the records are updated successfully.
The redirect is set to occur after the emails have been sent and this redirect works. However, no emails are arriving at any of the addresses I specify.

I've tried this using both dynamic email addresses from a recordset and a single static googlemail email. Both the update and the email use the same trigger i.e. once the update button is pressed.

I've looked at other threads with similar problems, but I still cannot get the email to arrive?

The plug-in I am using is attached

Who is your host?

Depending on your host, you may need to set certain options in Universal Email.

Some hosts will work if you leave the SMTP Server setting on the Email Server Tab blank, others will require that you enter the SMTP server address.

Some will work using the standard Mail protocol, other will require that you use the Pear Mail for SMTP, some using Pear mail will require authentication.

Some hosts may require that the from address being used be a valid email address for your domain. Some may require that the option to include the from Email address be passed as an extra parameter.

To be successful with Universal Email, you will need to know the requirements of your host for sending an email using a PHP script.

Also, double check your Spam folder, it is possible that the email is being trapped as spam.

I don't think our host and the settings are the problem as we use universal email on lots of other sites, all through the same host. I have checked the spam folders on all of the accounts I tried sending emails to, nothing arrived though???

Since it is directing to the GoTo page that is set in Universal Email, it is trying to send the email message to the SMTP server.

This means that either the settings are wrong, or the SMTP Server is refusing the relay the email message.

Ok I'll have a look at the settings in more detail and see if I messed something up. Thanks.

but I have no idea how to embed the mail server into the record set by Universal Email

In the Universal Email server behavior, click the Envelope icon to go to the SMTP Server settings window.

In mail server settings, you will need to select to use Pear Mail for SMTP as the server type and file in the Server, port and authentication settings.

Thanks for the tip

I will make a note of your offerings but guess what! The real reason why my Universal Email didn't work was that in the form action I placed the confirm page as well as in the UE interface. I hadn't realized that, doing so would overrides the script. I was following your video tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dflFeWp_0F4&feature=youtu.be&hd=1) Which doesn't mention this (Perhaps it should)

But the tip you offere, is sound, and I will make note of it for future reference.s
Thanks Immensely.

All for processing must occur on the forms action page, so if you set the action to post to another page, the Universal Email behavior would need to be applied to that page.
