Custom App

Custom App

Guys,

I spoke with Ray recently, I need a bit of customization for a powerstore installation. I'm attaching a .jpg composition of how we think the GUI should look. This is essentially a small CRUD app that processes special order items with the ability to preview .pdf's and open/download them, print an invoice or pay an invoice through the store. We're also hoping we can add a simple support ticket feature.

Can you guys take a look and let me know what you think and how long/cost for this project.

Appreciate your help guys.

Pete

How long this would take to develop depends on a lot of different factors, you should sign up for a premiere ticket so that we can talk about the specfic details of the application with you. We cant really give an estimate before the first meeting, but could definitely give one by the end of it.

Jason hi,

but if I sign up for a premier ticket that's like 99$ just to talk to you guys? Then the cost of the app on top, is this right?

Thanks.

The Consultation wouldn't take the entire 30 minutes I don't think, so the initial appointment would cover some of the development as well as determining how much additional time would be needed to complete.

Okay Jason, I'll have to leave it thanks. Without some idea of development cost I can't commit to spending $100 - it might become apparent once we get talking the cost of development is too great for this project which is already way over budget in which case I will have wasted $100 on just talking to you!

Don't mean to be unkind but obviously from my point of view as a customer that really isn't feasible!!

Kind regards - Pete

Wow! Just realized - you said the consultation wouldn't take the whole thirty minutes..so...a premier support ticket is $100 for 30 minutes so $200 bucks an hour? Would that be the development rate $200 per hour?

Yes, the rate is $99 / 30 minutes of development time.

Without the consultation, it is really next to impossible to tell how long the application will take to complete development.

Jason,

Even if it's only five hours development time at $200 per hour that's a thousand dollars!! You guys earn more than my lawyer! He'll be upset when I tell him lol.

Well, okay - I really can't do this it's way out of the budget but I have to say I'm disappointed you guys charge $200 per hour just so we can talk about how many hours it will take at $200 per hour to complete a project.

There's nothing about that scenario that makes sense to me, every other industry I'm in (and I'm in several) everybody quotes for work but they don't charge for the privilege of quoting for work. Does nobody at webassist think this is a really strange policy?

Forgive me but I'm astounded!

Have a great weekend...

The consultation is part of the development process. We cannot properly develop an application for you if we do not have all the details of what the applciation is supposed to do. any application development will start at the white boarding stage. it shouldn't take us very long to get to the point of being able to determine the time involved, but it is not something I can tell you here in the forum, i just don't have enough information to be able to tell how long it will take, and the needed details really need to be hashed out with the person that will be doing the development, in other words Ray.

the process is to put in a request for a premiere support appointment, we will call to schedule the appointment with you. at that time we will get the details about the application and come up with an estimate on how long the application will take to complete and schedule that time block. normally, that initial conversation about scheduling and application details is not charged.

Jason,

Okay, that's a significantly different proposal. If the initial conversation is not charged then that's okay but wasn't clear. However I still don't understand the process. Why do I need to buy a premier ticket if the initial consultation is free? Surely I would buy the ticket when we get to actually commissioning the project?

Or have I not understood you correctly?

Thanks,

Peter
