How to search two SQL database fields with one search box?

I want to have one search form field named "search" on the top corner of the page and I want a visitor to be able to try to match either a product name or product sku # with the aptly named fields in the SQL dbase. How would I go about this using the DataAssist Search Wizard?

Use a key word search criteria type. Where you select the columns to search will be a multi select box, use ctrl+mouse click to select each column you wish to search.

No Keyword Search Available

I don't see an option for a "key word search criteria". The search type options available to me are as follows:

1. Advanced Text Search
2. Date Range
3. Price Range
4. Numeric Range
5. Exact Match
6. Multiple Select List or Checkboxes
7. Single Checkboxes
8. Single Check Box

Am I missing something?

use Advanced Text Search, that should be the same as a Keyword search.

Still not working. See the link below.

I am selecting:

Search Type: "Advanced Text Search"

Separator: "Or"

Columns: : "ProductSKU" & "ProductName"

New for field: "try"

"not working" can mean any number of things. Can you please provide more details.

also the link you provided in the private section does not work.

keep in mind:
Before starting the Data Assist Search wizard, you should create the results page.

ON the results page, add a basic recordset, and create the record display using a repeat region and add the paging navigation if need be. Then start the Data Assist Search wizard, this will allow you to configure how the results page recordset will be filtered.

I used DataAssist to create the original search page, results page and detail page. Then created a secondary search page using the search wizard. Would there be an issue is the we a mixing text with numerics in the search?

I sent more accurate links for you to view.

Then created a secondary search page

using a secondary search page wont work. You should configure the initial search page for what you are trying to accomplish rather than trying to use 2 separate search pages that connect to one results page, they will conflict with each other.

I tried to use DataAssist to create the results page and detail page. Then created the search page using the search wizard.

I used the same settings (shown below again)

I am selecting: ??Search Type: "Advanced Text Search"??Separator: "Or"??Columns: : "ProductSKU" & "ProductName" ??New for field: "try"

Still doesn't work at all.

Use the Data Assist wizard to create the Search, Results and Details pages.

for the search page setting, set it to Search the ProductSKU SKU column

after the pages are created, open the results page, and go to the Server Behaviors panel. Double Click the Data Assist Search server behavior. Edit the Criteria that was created by the wizard, and change it to a Key Word criteria type, and add the ProductName column to the selection of columns to search.
