Price discounts based on volume?

A new cart install. This site sells products to organizations. The pricing structure is based on how many are purchased. Example: if just one it is $25. If 2-12 it is 13.95. if 12-36 it is $10, etc. Is it possible to set up the cart to manage this sliding price scale?

Also, shipping is a sliding scale. One item is $7.95 but subsequent is $1.50 each. Anyway to do this?

Thanks as always.

Power Store does not support a sliding scale like this for the item pricing, this is not supported in power store.

it would take a good amount of hand coding to implement this in power store.

it can be done using eCart though.

there are a couple of different strategies that could be used. If all items had the same quantity break points, you would just need to add columns for the prices to the cart object.

if the break points would be different for each product, you would need to add a column fro each hi-low break point / price combination to the cart object.

you could then create a calculation to determine the price based on the quantity.

the shipping rule can be created fairly easily on the shipping tab of the power store settings.

set the Base rate to 7.95 and the per item rate to 1.50.

Good to know on shipping.

Can ecart and powerstore be combined to do the sliding price break? Is this something I can do a premier ticket to accomplish?

Yes, we could implement this in a premiere support ticket.

OK... good to know. Thanks Jason. I'll see what they want to do.

An idea: this cart is not open to public but password protected to an established clientele. Perhaps I could create coupons to apply based on quantity.
So if an order is for 2-12, the coupon would be for 5% off and they apply the 2-12 coupon, etc. That might work nicely. If they pick the wrong coupon, a phone call to get extra before shipping would solve it.

coupons in power store do not have a way to apply based on quantity. you would be relying on the users to use the correct coupon.

Yes, I understand. There should only be a few coupons and the marketing will cover it in detail. These folks will only be ordering once or twice a year and are familiar with the company. I think we can communicate it well enough to make it work. But I'll let you know what they decide to do.

Thanks Jason.
