Double Opt-in Registration modifications

Thread begun 6/17/2013 7:24 am by kevin_d_allen182238 | Last modified 8/13/2013 7:21 am by Jason Byrnes | 4213 views | 26 replies |

Double Opt-in Registration modifications

I am working through the tutorial on creating double opt-in registration for one of our sites.
We want to make 2 modifications to this process and I'm looking for some input on how to accomplish this.

1. we want to eliminate some of the fields on the simple registration.

All we want for somebody to sign up is their Email (required ), First Name (required), Last Name (Required ) and Telephone (Not required )

--- we do NOT want to include address, city, state, country, fields in the registration process..... or at the very least, we do NOT want them to be required fields. ... this second option might actually be better.

2. We want to add a Checkbox ( Required ) for them to acknowledge that they have read and agree to our Terms and Conditions, before allowing them access to the restricted content of the site.

Any tips on how to accomplish this would be appreciated.

When running the Security Assist Wizard, go to the Manage Pages tab, and edit the Field setting to change validation for fields in the registration form.

you can select each column and change whether it should be required.

the agreement checkbox will be to be added after the registration page is created.

add the checkbox to the registration page, set the checked value to 1. Then open the server behaviors panel, and double click the Server Validation server behavior, add a new Required validation. For the AServer variable, select the Check box element from the form bindings.

Just a quick question...

Re. creating the checkbox "after"... are you suggesting I go through the tutorial all the way, and then add this functionality? Or should I try adding it at some point after the registration page is automatically created?

I followed the tutorial.... however for what ever reason the verification link does not work.
I get the email listing all the details to verify my email address, I click on the verify here link and I get prompted that the verification link is expired.

How to fix that? Could it be that my client and server are in different time zones of each other? If so how to change the link expiry time?

thanks

When you click the link, what is the address in the address bar?

Most likely one of the URL Variables is missing.

also send a copy of the verification page so i can see how the recordset is configured.

the link is missing the equals sign between the randomString variable name and value.

randomString9v9i

should be:
randomString=9v9i
