eCart version and update questions

I have a new client that has an eCart site built by a previous user of WebAssist who has left them hanging. Their site has been useless for several months due to the FedEx API change and this is where I now enter the picture.

I have taken the first steps of going through the FedEx migration where I have received the email with the test password, etc and downloaded the test zips from their web dev center. However before I continue with all that I want to know if I should not take a different route.

The site was built in 2008 ish from the looks of the files I pulled via FTP. I want to know if there is a way to check which version of eCart was used and how involved or possible to update the cart to version 5. Or is the better route to go ahead and manually migrate the fedex files for now and then rebuild the site down the road (which is her next step). The client simply wants the site to work again ASAP and then wants to begin from scratch in the next few months.

I guess I'm wanting advice from those that know or have gone through the migration which road is easier/better to take. I started the WebAssist tutorial of manual migration however one of the first steps requires a ZIP file update but there is no link to retrieve this file.

All help, advice is appreciated.

Where the site was built in 2008, It was Most Likely eCart 3 that was used to create the shopping cart.

It would be best to manually update the FedEx files for the time being, then recreate the shopping cart down the road using eCart 5.

the eCart 3 shopping cart is not easilly updated using eCart 5.

the fed ex files can be downloaded here:

Thanks Jason. I didn't really feel like jumping in the middle of someone else's old code and try to do an update unless it was going to be pretty straight forward. I'll stick with getting them back on their feet with the manual FedEx update for now and get them a new cart when they are ready. Maybe eCart 6 will be ready by then. Thanks again!
