What will be happening when Creative Suite 7 is released.
Adobe has announced that Creative Suite 7 will not be available as a boxed product, it will only be an online subscription. What does that future hold for our WebAssist products?

When the New version of Dreamweaver is released, we will begin working on updates to Data Bridge, Design Extender, eCart 5 and Free tools to make them compatible. The up[dates will be released shortly after the CS7 release, but i don't have an exact timeframe.
I believe you missed my question. I wanted to know if the extensions will work when there will be no programs installed on the computer. Creative Suite 7 will not be available as a boxed product, it will be only online as a subscription through "the cloud". Needless to say, Dreamweaver CS7 will not be resident on our machines.
Dreamweaver CS 7 will still be installed on your computer. The Cloud is a subscription model, you subscribe to have access to the applications that adobe offers, then select which ones to instal to your computer.
Adobe will no longer offer a boxed product that you can install from a DVD, it is now a downloadable installation.
Thank you for this information, Jason. It is appreciated.
Ive been using Adobe Creative Cloud for well over a year now and its far better then the "boxed version". So many useful extra features that wouldnt be available in the boxed version. I think many users get confused since its marketing as a "cloud" product that it wouldnt be installed on the computer...if that was ever the case Adobe and many other companies would be in trouble since not everyone has decent enough broadband speed (I for one am on a 3.5meg speed). Also with the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription you would also be getting free upgrades (before, Creative Suite would still cost a few hundred a year if they were to bring out new versions...So in a sense paying monthly is cost effective long term :)
Also Adobe would give WebAssist the necessary code to apply to their extensions to practically seamlessly reactivate the server behaviours/database/bindings functionality back into Dreamweaver..hence why WebAssist would shortly provide updates after Dreamweaver CC release :)
I'm a little surprised that Adobe doesn't provide support for their third-party developers to test extensions prior to a new product release… but now that Dreamweaver CC is out, I wonder if anyone has tested the existing extensions for compatibility?
It seems like they've abandoned Spry for jQuery (probably a good idea), so I imagine that Spry Validation is moot… but how about the Cart and Database functions? It seems like those might not be as sensitive to the changes in the product?
We will be updating the Extensions for compatibility with DW CC soon. it has just been released, so we can now begin testing and releasing updates to address issues.
