I offer free estimates for my work and am looking to take input from a store user to describe what they are looking for so I can provide them with an estimate. I thought a product with an input field may be the way to go but am opened to suggestions. Either way I will need a significant field size for them to provide me with the details I would need to give them an estimate. Is there a max size for input data? Can I change the shape of the input fields on a product? Thanks!

No, there is not a limit as long as you are using the option to store the cart in a session and not a cookie.

in the eCart object, add a column for the description, in the add to c art button, set the description column to be editable from a text field.

once the text field is added, select it in design view then in the property inspector, change it to a text area and the number of rows and columns to display.
