Checking for unqiue database values on more than 1 field

Hi,

I'm trying to use server validation to check for a unique value in the database. The value I am checking against is a company name, but I also need to check against the postcode field too. Is there a way to use validation toolkit to check against more than one database column/form field before inserting a record?

I've attached a copy of the file I am working with.

you are using the older validation toolkit where you need to create a recordset to lookup the entered value.

are you trying to check that the is not a record for both the OrganisationName and Zip code combination? If so, then edit the recordset to add an additional where clause, you will need to use the advanced recordset dialog.

Thanks Jason, I'm a bit confused as to the older version of validation toolkit you mentioned as I am using the latest build of Databrige (1.1.3) and Design Extender (1.1.1)?

The data bridge validation has a unique data base value validation type built in, no need to create a recordset, though it only uses one column.

for validating 2 columns, you need to use the recordset but the recordset needs to filter both columns.

Ah right, thank you for clarifying. Much appreciated.
