Usually when you get this error it is because there is a problem with the connection to your db from within Dreamweaver. To test this out create a new blank page and save it to the site. With this page open go to the database tab of your application panel. If you do not have the db connection defined add a new connection. In this interface make sure to test the connection to ensure it is working properly. Next create a new recordset on this page, when you are creating it use the test button to confirm the results. If these both test ok then you should be able to run the wizard to create your pages. If this does not work for you then there is probably an issue with your connection, if this is the case please post back with any errors or warnings you are getting when testing the connection.
I created a new page within my site. I was able to connect the database and the test was successful. When I tried to create the recordset I get an error which reads "HTTP error code 500 Internal Server error"
I remember using this feature awhile back playing around with another site and was able to connect with a database on the same server. Not really sure what the problem is.
If you are connecting to a remote MySQL server then it may not be accessible remotely. If you can you should attempt to run a local MySQL server to see if this will let you start working with the tools. On our product support pages under General Technotes we have a guide called Web Development: Before you Begin. It covers getting a local server including the MySQL setup.
One other thing that you may want to try is to make sure that DW is closed then go to the local root folder for your site and find the mmServerScripts folder and delete. When you launch Dreamweaver again and test your connection and recordset this should be recreated. It is possible that there is an error in here somewhere, if this is the problem deleting it and having DW recreate it should resolve the problem.

From spending the better part of two hours on a fruitless internet search I can tell that this frustrates many.
It definitely seems to be something with a site setup but I cannot find an error. I can say that by creating a new 'Server' in Dreamweaver and moving my files into a subdirectory the error went away.
The pages work fine on the server. I will just use the subdirectory version as my testing server and continue to use the actual directory as my Live Server.
This is almost always a typo in your "Testing Server" configuration. Most likely you didn't make the same mistake in setting up the site the second time in the sub directory, but it doesn't actually have anything to do with the sub directory.
Except that I really didn't create a new site. I just used the Copy button in the Server setup, specified a different directory and dragged the files into that directory with FTP. I would maintain that something goes corrupt in the Dreamweaver definition or cache and it cannot be fixed. Creating an entirely new site would probably have worked just as well.
Just one of those Dreamweaver things I think.
