Universal Email - mailshots that take a long time

Universal Email - mailshots that take a long time

I have a site that uses UE to send some fairly big mail shots of a few hundred or so.

A while ago we got caught out by the hosting company's limits, so revised the script to apply UE's limits, which all seems to be working OK.

I understand that hitting 'send' starts the process, so although the page won't redirect to the 'Emails sent' page until all the emails have been sent, the wheels have been set in motion, and the emails will all be sent.

However, the site owner has just been back on to me as he never feels entirely confident that that is what is happening, as to him the process just appears to hang.

So although he can in theory just navigate to another page, he doesn't really find it very intuitive.

Hope that makes sense, and if so I just wondered if anyone could suggest any solution that might provide the user with some more reassuring visual feedback that the emails are being sent without having to either wait for an hour or two on a page, or navigate to another page whilst that page still appears to be processing something.

Add a Progress bar to the page. That will show the user how many emails have been sent so far, and how many are left.

Can I do that as part of UE? I had a look in the server behaviour but didn't see anything obvious.

Go to WebAssist -> Forms -> Progress bar to add the progress bar to the page.

That's exactly what I done using a progress Bar..works a treat...it also works on page submits such as a PayPal transaction (that can take several seconds) so using the Progress Bar around the form makes everything so much more professional :) such a welcomed WebAssist feature!
