PayPal Shipping Address

PayPal Shipping Address

eCart has fields for passing the shipping address to PayPal, however, I have a client who says that this information is not on the payment advice that he receives from PayPal after checkout.

I seem to recall this as being a known issue going back several years.

Is this still the case? My work around has always been to send a confirmation email from the eCart with the shipping address, which my clients would then match up to the PayPal payment.

Can I force the PayPal receipt to have this shipping information on it?

What PayPal system are you using? PayPal Standard or Paypal Payments Pro?

Standard. Does Pro allow it?

I think with paypal standard, the shipping address will only be included in the reciept email if it is different from the billing address, paypal doesn't offer a way to customize the emails reciepts.

maybe if the no_shipping option is set to 2 (prompt for an address, and require one) it will force the email to include the shipping address:

<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" id="no_shipping" value="2" />

That was enough info to get me close. A Google search turned up these two links which are key to making this work.

You have to included address_override = 1 in order to actually pass the address to Google. The reference material says that adding this variable will prevent the user from changing the address you passed, which it does, but without it, the address is not passed at all.

I would like to suggest that you add address_override to eCart in a future update.

I just tested the checkout wizard eCart 5.0.7. I selected to use paypal standard, and the "I'll provide Shipping" option. the confirm page that was created includes the address override variable:
<input type="hidden" name="address_override" id="address_override" value="1" />

This seems to work just fine now, except that today, two customers were presented with an error by PayPal.

Unable to process payment. Shipping address provided by the merchant is invalid

My client replicated this error using his own, actual address. I was unable to replicate it, even with an invalid address. In testing, if I used a Canadian Postal Code with a US address, I would get this error. That would be the expected behaviour, but now I can pass an invalid address with no error.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Just tested this again this morning with a perfectly valid mailing address and it failed. Same address worked last night. View Source of confirmation page ahead of PayPal shows correct info. Bizarre.

Turns out that one of the email accounts had a typo. Client is using two accounts. 1 for USA, 1 for Canada. The USA email was wrong. Instead of throwing an error that there is a problem with the merchant account, PayPal was throwing a shipping error. PayPal tech submitted as a bug.

With the correct email address, the process seems to work fine.

Glad to hear you found the cause of the problem.
