Validate Phone Numbers

Validate Phone Numbers

I have used the phone number validation in my form, but I would prefer for the validation to be 123-456-7890 instead of (123) 456-7890. How can I do that? Also, is there a way to force the correct input, i.e., they type in the first three numbers, it automatically adds the "-", then another three, auto "-", then last four numbers and not allow anything further. Can that be done as well?

is you page using spry for the phone number validation?

to check this, select the phone number field in design view, if it is using spry, you will notice a blue bounding box. Click that to trigger the spry settings in the property inspector.

in the spry settings, set it to use a custom pattern, and enter:
000-000-0000

set the option to enforce the pattern.

you could also enter a hint it you like.

I used the CSS Forms SB to create the form.

So it is probably using Spry validation, you will need to edit the spry validation as outlined previously.

Ok that worked, thank you. Just as a heads up for anyone else, I had to select the SPAN around my text field to bring up the Spry settings in the Property Inspector. It didnt come up by just selecting the text field itself.
