Returning to Cart

Hi!

Customers want to add items to their cart and return at a later point in time to finish checkout, logged in or not.

Is there a way to make this happen?

Thank you!

the only way to repopulate the cart without being logged in is to store the cart in a cookies.

in the eCart object, change the Store In option from Session to Cookies

Be aware though that cookies have certain limitations. the user wont be able to add items to the cart on one computer, then use another computer, or even a different browser to re populate the cart. Cookies also have a maximum size. After so many items are added to the cart, the cart will not accept any additional items. This max size is different in different browsers.

Hi Jason,

I opened the eCart object and selected the store in option of cookies. A new dialog box opened for further options:

Domain:
Expires:14
Path:
Secure:

Do I use my domain; expires "30" for a month; Path - I have no idea; and select the secure checkbox?

Thank you so much for your quick response.

yes, 30 for the expires setting will keep the cookie alive for 30 days.

the other settings can be left blank.

Thank you Jason.

I did the above and uploaded the eCart Object file and tested. The add to cart buttons would not add the items to the cart.

I changed the eCart Object file back to session and reuploaded, but I must being something wrong or incomplete for it not to work. I tried a couple of different times and finally reuploaded it with sessions. It still works with sessions

A copy of the eCart1.php file for both is included. Note the Session and Cookie file names.

What do I need to do to make this work correctly?

Thank you again!

Responded to the ticket.

When i turn on error reporting, the page shows errors that indicate that the eCart object was edited to add or remove columns after the add to cart button was created.

any time you add or remove columns to the cart object, you need to edit the add to cart button behaviors to have the add to cart code regenerated.

Hi Jason,

Thank you so much!

I'm having one issue now. The cart is adding additional items without them being added.

So for example, I add one Adapter, it's adding 5 more for a total of 6 pieces.

Same thing if I close the brower and reopen then go to the cart page.

What do I need to do about this?

Testing further, the issue seems to be only within IE. And it's not just the adapters.

Thank you for your help !!
