Inserting ItemID in secondary field from insert page

Hi there, The title says it all really - I have a table that contains items and component items in the same table. I have a field ItemItemID which if the item is a component part contains the ItemID of its parent. In order for my items and components to order properly on the page I also need the parent Item to contain its own ItemID in the ItemItemID field. I can go back and put it in after the record is created but I'd like it to happen automatically when I create the original parent item. Is there a way of doing this with the insert behavior?

the ID cant be known reliably until the Insert has happened.

in the Data Assist insert behavior, The session variable allows you to save the ID of the record being inserted to a session variable.

you could use an update behavior directly after the insert to update the record based on the Session that is created and use that same session variable for the ItemItemID column
