Powergallery 2 admin breakdown

Hi Jason. I have upgraded to PG2 on a client's site. I have encountered problems server uploading images to the gallery via admin. All looks fine initially, but as I add more images (only uploading from folders containing 6 images at any one time) the thumbnails in the manage images section start failing, just displaying a question mark (?) instead of an image - and some of the thumbnails that were previously OK have reverted to question marks. Is there a limit to the number of server uploads that can be safely uploaded at any one time? My client needs to view the thumbnails in order that they can correctly caption the gallery images.
