Pretty URLs

I have just received an email from webassist showcasing the website cotswold.com

The email says that the Framework Tool is used to create pretty urls.

How can we achieve this please?

I was wondering same thing. I just went and converted my hole site over to a theme and now am getting errors on certain pages and also do not see the nice URL's. I have a very dynamic site that is sending urls with id, but would like to see something more search engine friendly.

it requires some planning.

Dave created index files in the directories and plugins to achieve this result on that site

for example, if you have a details page like:
items_detail.php?ItemID=1

and you wanted to use the product name "Widget A" to load it, you could create a new folder and index file:
/Widget_A/index.php

in that file add a plugin and use the plugin source:
../items_detail.php?ItemID=1

now the address
/Widget_A/

will actually load
/items_detail.php?ItemID=1

I don't have time at the moment for an in depth answer, but as Jason says it took a lot of planning to get it set up although the final method actually uses url "slugs" much like wordpress rather than id values which was my original intention.

I use a combination of htaccess rules, framework builder and a custom php function which is based on this article .

Again sorry if this is not enough info to get you started but I have deadlines to meet.
