Pre-sales questions

Hello,

Two question, please:

1. Does PowerMessenger depend on a specfic database schema or can it be used as a front end to a cusomized database that may have additional tables. For example, I may have a database that includes other personal information, such as a field for user gender; could PowerMessenger use that database and offer that field through its interface as a filter?

2. Is it possible to set up multiple PowerMessenger instances on the same domain, each with a unique URL and unique database? Does a single license allow, for example, powermessengerTom (with his own database) and powermessnegerJerry (with his own database)?

1) Power Messenger has it's own users table for registered users. you wont be able to use your own table.

2) Yes, you could install multiple versions of power messenger on the same domain, and each can use it's own data base.

Follow up

Thank you for the reply, Jason. Not to take no for an answer but, as long as I assured that the tables and fields PowerMessenger needs were properly included, if I added additional fields and/or tables, is there any reason why those would not be made accessible through the PowerManager interface? (Again, imagine additional fields like gender, could those not be made available as filter options through PowerManager -- even if it required some hacking of the PHP code?

You can add columns to the power messenger users tables, but we do not offer support for this.

To use the new columns you will need to edit the registration form and insert record behavior of the registration page, you will need to edit the users update page and a number of other places. It can be done, but it is not supported.
