ckeditor and ios

Hey Jason

Not sure if this is the right place to put this one but here goes....

Have added a _results, _update and _insert pages to the back end in PCMS and on the update and insert page have added the html editor.

I have tried accessing through an ios device but, although you can see the editor, you're not able to edit the content within...

I know that this is possible to achieve as I do it with the ckeditor for the main site editing but dont know how to do it for the 'mini' editors

Many thanks

Jamie

What version of Data Bridge are you using?

Version 1.1.3 uses CKEditor 4 which has better IOS support, make sure you are using Data Bridge 1.1.3 for creating the HTML Editor instances.

you may need to delete the webassist/ckeditor folder from your site to have HTML Editor recreate it in oder to update to the newer CKEditor version.

Ah right... will upgrade to the latest DataBridge in the mornign then.

How do I go about recreating the HTML editor side of things?

In the _insert and _update files, do I delete the files entirely and start again or just delete the thml editor field and then reinsert it?

When you say delet the webassist/ckeditor folder, just to make sure, I am assuming you mean the path from the root?

Thanks

delete the webassist/ckeditor folder in your site, then in the results page, edit the HTML Editor instance to have the CKEditor files recreated.

thanks Jason

Have done that on 3 sites...one has worked fine, the other 2 are missing icons on the toolbar of the editor... see attached

edit the HTML Editor instance, click the Edit icon next to the editor preset, go to the Toolbar tab and reselect the toolbar items that should be used.

Hey Jason

Just wondering why ckeditor sees these differently:

if a client uses this ‘ , ckeditor renders it on the front end as ‘

I have to go in and change each one of these ‘ to this ' for it to work properly
Any ideas why this would be happening and how to stop it from happening?

cheers

Jamie

Hi can I just ask regarding this post, if databridge now uses CKEditor 4 how can we benefit from the inline editor feature? :)

@JamieEff:
it's probably the character set used by the connection.

If you use Dynamic connections to create the database connection, you can set the character set to UTF-8, other wise, you would need to edit the connection file to force it to use the UTF-8 character set.

for example, in the Connection/PowerCMSConnection file, line 9 would look like this:

php:
$PowerCMSConnection = mysql_pconnect($hostname_PowerCMSConnection, $username_PowerCMSConnection, $password_PowerCMSConnection) or trigger_error(mysql_error(),E_USER_ERROR);

add the following code after that:

php:
mysql_set_charset('utf8',$PowerCMSConnection);

@designerwest:
inline editing is not supported. It may be a feature that is available in CKEditor 4, but you would need to manually code the ability to use it. you would need to hand code the editor to show on the page for only admins, and also to update the database. We could help you with this in a premiere support ticket, but it is not supported by data bridge. We will probably be adding his feature to a future upgrade.
