Importing Data into existing database

i may have missed this somewhere, but I need to import data from a new spreadsheet into an existing database... since I am needing to merge over 5,000 items into a current database with over 10,000 existing items this is extremely needed capability...

is there a tutorial to do this and how would I do it....

Thanks, Daniel

importing data to an existing database can be tricky at best.

You would need to use the Import function of your MySQL GUI. The most common MySQL GUI Tool is PHPMyAdmin but there are many others available.

there are many tutorials that can be found through google, here is one i found for PHPMyAdmin:

Thanks

even if someone starts from scratch using data assist you should have built into the extension a way to populate the MySQL database from an exiting database or text file...

Thanks, Danielo

the extension is designed for creating PHP pages to insert update delete and search your database. It is not a MySQL management tool.

for that you should use one of the many available MySQL GUI Tools like PHPMyAdmin.
