How do I apply different shipping rates to different regions?

How do I apply different shipping rates to different regions?

I have created a store based on your tutorial 'Build an Admin-Driven PayPal Store', and I have to say I couldn't believe how simple it is to get a basic store up and running! Even with watching the tutorial, and building my own Data Assist preset, it took less than two hours.

Anyway, I am not too sure if it is too simple for my needs. I have to apply some varying shipping rules. A base rate of £2.50, a per extra item rule of £0.50, but then I also need to apply a region rate too. So this store is based in the UK, and to ship to the UK will not cost any extra, to ship to Europe will cost an extra £1.00, and to ship to the rest of the world will be £2.00.

So to ship two items to the UK will be £3.00 (£2.50 + £0.50 + 0.00), to ship them to the USA will cost £5.00 (£2.50 + £0.50 + £2.00).

Is this possible with the free tools? If so, how?

If it's not, then I can I achieve this using e-cart with Paypal.

Forgot to say I was hoping to apply this regional shipping based on the handling charge and it somehow picking up that the customer was either in the UK, Europe or the rest of the world.

Hopefully it's possible!

Sorry to keep replying to my own posts, but I have just found a little thing called 'Manage Relational Table' under the Server Behaviours --> Data Assist panel, and I was wondering if this might help me to determine what shipping costs to apply. I'm not sure I understand what Manage Relational Table is actually for!

If I create a shipping table with all the correct shipping values in it including my UK, Europe and rest of the world info, will 'Manage Relational Table' enable me to take a users profile using their unique ID number, and apply the correct shipping? I will obviously need to make users at least register with the website to determine their location.

Would I have the products table as the relational table, the user table as the main, and the shipping table as the options table?

Am I understanding this tool correctly? Is this the table joining tool that I have been asking for this as a feature request and it already exists!!?

Thanks.

the only way to do this is to set up the shipping rules in your paypal account. it's not posible to know the shipping location till they log into paypal, so the shipping rules would need to be configured on the paypal server

the shipping country is stored in a session variable. you can create different shipping rules based on the shipping country in the session.

You could also use a shipping table for this, but i don't think you really need to, your shipping needs don't seam that complex.

you surely wouldn't need a relational table using the products.
