Signature on PayPal Express

Signature on PayPal Express

I'm trying to set up payments using PayPal Express. I've got the username and password for the clients' account. I can't seem to see any reference in Paypal to Signature, which PowerStore requires. Where do I find out the signature?

I found a pdf on the Paypal site called "Technical Overview of PayPal as an Additional Payment Option" which I thought might help, but it directs me to PayPal as an Additional Payment Option: Standard Checkout Integration Guide" which I can't find on their site.

Thanks.

see the "Signing Up with PayPal and Obtaining your PayPal Settings" tutorial for details on obtaining the API Username API Password and API Signature:

NOTE: The API Username and API Password are not the same as the paypal Account User Name and Password

OK, that pdf is very helpful. It seems I've misunderstood the PayPal options. I had thought that PayPal Express was the version you could do with the free (no monthly charge) version of PayPal. Does PowerStore work with that version? What's it called, and is there documentation on it?

At the moment my admin panel seems to be intermittently malfunctioning and won't let me go to the payment gateways page to see what the options are, or I could be more precise. Not sure what that's about.

PayPal express is a free option, but you still need to sign up for API Credentials in order to use it.

OK, I'm getting close. I got the credentials from PayPal. I put the into the PowerStore settings. The PayPal button appears on the checkout page. But when you click it, it doesn't take you anywhere.

I took the store out of test mode. I've tried checkout with or without debug mode and see no difference.

One odd thing is that on the store settings page, when I click to save, it momentarily flashes and shows the payment gateway info and then that goes away and it returns to the store settings page.

I'd be happy to give you the admin login if you wanted to look and see.

Now with the fix you made, a person can check out. However, they are not required to create an account or log in to PowerStore, which means we don't capture their information. That can't be right surely? Is this connected?

Thanks for your help.

With Paypal express, the user goes to the Paypal site to set up the payment method, and is them redirected back to your site where they are asked to set up a site username and password before finalizing the transaction.

Before I understood that with PayPal Express it would not ask people to create an account before paying, I'd set up the profile to ask for a couple of extra fields, an emergency contact name and phone number. We'd love to have those on the receipt so that our registrar doesn't have to look them up in people's accounts.

Can you suggest an easy way to add some extra fields that will be reflected in the Power Store receipt or the PayPal receipt?

Thanks.

This would require custom coding to accomplish. We can help you add this functionality in a premiere support appointment.
