PHP.ini-recommended not in PHP download

Page. 5 of the "Web Development before you begin" document has a download of PHP from downloads.php. Two of these do not work and crash, and the other two do not contain the php.ini-recommended file. I tried other sites on cnet, etc. Where do I find a reliable PHP file?

On the PHP download page, make sure you click the Windows Binaries link (download/) and download the zip file.

With php 5.3, the php.ini-recommeded has been changed to
php.ini-development or
php.ini-production

If you are testing i would recommend to use the php.ini-developement to start with.

Trying to have PHP work in Microsoft Expression Web 4; trouble with interactivity

Hello,
I am working with the Microsoft Web Expression 4 Professional program. I want to enable the program with PHP capabilities. This should not be a problem, but I am having a hard time downloading/installing PHP correctly. Even when it seems like I have correctly downloaded and installed PHP from download, the .php pages I am testing in Microsoft Expression are not loading properly at all in the browser simulator. I am either getting a blank screen or an error message about something called a cgi force redirect.

Can anyone tell me a slight step I am missing or what I can do to get PHP to work properly especially within Microsoft Expression? If you use Dreamweaver was there a similar pain in getting PHP running smoothly? I went to both a Micro Center outlet and a Microsoft Store outlet and neither of their technicians knew anything about PHP.

Anyone? Anyone?
~Thomas

I'm assuming that you are running some flavor of windows in IIS.

see this page for details on installing PHP in IIS:
php.iis.net/

Still confused with php.ini file

Hello James,

Thanks for showing me where another download source was as
php.iis.net . However, when I looked through the files of the
PHP 5.3.9 I downloaded from there, I couldn't locate a php.ini file.
One of the error messages I have been receiving when trying to preview
PHP pages in Microsoft Expression is that there is no php.ini file.
How can I make sure not to receive that message again?

newer versions of PHP do not include the php.ini.recommended file anymore.

If you are setting up a local testing environment for development, use the php.ini-development file as a starting point.

if you are setting up a remote production server, user the php.ini-production file as a starting point
